Share videos and GIFs

Send videos in chats and post them on club and community pages, with a player of our own.

New

Send videos (MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 200 MB) in chats, and post them on club, office and community pages. Moving GIFs now stay moving.
A new AlmaBond video player: play, pause, seek, volume, speed, full screen and download.
YouTube links in posts and chats can be watched right on AlmaBond.
You are notified when someone comments on your post, on the bell and on your phone. Turn it off under Notification settings.
A camera button in chats takes a photo or video, or picks one from your phone; the paperclip is still for any kind of file.
A Preview button on PDFs and text files opens them in a new tab, so you can read them without downloading.

Better

Put your links and resources in order

Clubs and offices choose the order of their page's links and resources, and budgets are easier to set.

New

Club and office admins can move their page's Links and Resources up and down to put the most important first.
When setting club budgets, tick "Apply the same amount to all clubs" to give every club the same budget at once, then untick it to change any club on its own.

Better

Your club or office page looks the same to everyone. Admins tap the pencil next to Links or Resources to change them.
Setting budgets now lists only student clubs, and offices no longer have a Request budget button.

Fixed

Starting a new budget cycle now begins with a blank name and deadline, so it is clear a new cycle is being created.

Smoother chats on your phone

The message box now stays in view when the keyboard opens.

New

Your profile now opens with a preview of your page as others see it, with Edit profile, Security and Notification settings underneath.
Notification settings: turn phone notifications back on if you skipped them, choose which kinds you want, and send yourself a test.
A round arrow button takes you back to the newest message when you have scrolled up through an old conversation.

Better

A staff member's profile now shows their offices together with their clubs and orgs in one place.
Every message now gets its own notification on Android, and a chat's notifications disappear once you open that chat.
If a password you choose is too common to be allowed, we now say so and suggest a better one, instead of a vague error.

Fixed

On a phone, tapping the message box no longer pushes the chat off the screen: the conversation stays visible above the keyboard.
Signing in with Google or LinkedIn from the Android app now brings you straight into the app.
The home page scrolls smoothly on phones, including with big swipes.
After you send a message the chat now stays at the newest one, and with the keyboard up you still see the latest messages above it.
You no longer get a phone notification for a message in a chat you have open.
On a phone, the emoji search in the reaction picker stays open when the keyboard comes up.

Forms for anyone, and a clearer form builder

Share a form with anyone who has the link, and build forms more easily.

New

Forms can now be shared with anyone who has the link, and aren't listed anywhere else. By default people must be signed in to AlmaBond, and organizers can switch that off to let anyone answer.
Events can send people to another website to register: clubs and offices add the link when they create an event, and the Register now button opens it.

Better

A new form no longer lands in everyone's notification bell by itself. Offices send a broadcast when they want to tell people about it.
Building a form is easier: start from a template, pick questions from simple tiles, and follow three clear steps to publish and share.

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play

AlmaBond is on its way to your phone's app store, with calmer chats, a fresh look and a sturdier site.

New

The AlmaBond app is coming. We're submitting it to the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). Once approved you'll get notifications on your phone for messages, answers to your requests and event decisions. We'll announce it here. Until then, AlmaBond works as before in your browser.
Archive any chat to tidy your inbox. A new message brings it back. Previous team chats stay readable and usable.
Delivered ticks: two grey ticks mean your message reached them while they were online, two blue ticks mean they've seen it.
Photos in chats and posts, and event flyers, open full screen when you press them. Profile pictures can be animated GIFs.
Student Life can now rename and delete clubs on their campus, and rename offices (the page's web address stays the same); only the Student Life owner can delete an office. Office pages also list their members now, like clubs.

Better

A new logo, home page and sign-in page.
Your profile now saves only when you press Save profile, photo and mentoring choice included.
Staff profiles show their offices, and office events publish straight away.
Messages feel instant, and AlmaBond holds up better when things are slow: it retries by itself and keeps you signed in.
In the phone app: swipe in from either side of the screen to go back, pull down to refresh, and links to other websites open in the app that owns them or your phone's own browser.

Fixed

Event flyers in WebP format, and HEIC photos from iPhones and Macs, now upload without errors.
Profile pictures, including your Google photo, show for everyone.

Security & privacy

The privacy policy now explains how the phone apps work. AlmaBond doesn't use your location, contacts or microphone.
